English

Nupur Kulshrestha first joined the service of the Indian Coast Guard in 1999.

She has now become the first woman to be advanced as DIG which is Deputy Inspector General of Indian Coast Guard. She thanked the service for giving her this opportunity and also was grateful to the service for considering her meritocracy and abilities. She also added that this is taking women ahead. It definitely is one step forward for women. The Indian Coast Guard is an armed forces organisation that protects India’s maritime interests and enforces maritime law, with jurisdiction over the territorial waters of India. It’s a big deal that they have finally got a female DIG breaking barriers.
