    DP World has completed testing of the BOXBAY high bay storage concept at the first full-size facility constructed at Jebel Ali port in Dubai, proving that the innovative technology works in the real world. More than 63,000 container moves have been completed since the facility, which can hold 792 containers at a time, was commissioned beginning this year. The test exceeded expectations with BOXBAY faster and more energy efficient than anticipated.

     

  • FUJAIRAH DATA: July bunker sales jump 2.8% on...

    The UAE’s Port of Fujairah bunker sales in July climbed 2.8% on the month to the highest total this year as the world’s third-largest bunkering hub made gains in low sulfur fuel oils, according to Fujairah Oil Industry Zone data on its website.

    SOHAR Port and Freezone has announced results for the second quarter of 2021. Among them, it reported that the Port’s handling of goods in and out of the Sultanate (throughput) increased by 14 percent over the same period in 2020 and Ship-to-Ship (STS) cargo increased by an impressive 168 percent.

FUJAIRAH DATA: August bunker sales rise 2.5% on month, miss estimates

Bunker sales in August at the UAE’s Port of Fujairah, the world’s third largest bunkering hub, rose 2.5% on the month to over 700,000 cu m for the first time in 2021, according to Sept. 15 data from the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone provided exclusively to S&P Global Platts. But the sales still missed estimates, partly because a ship attack off the port in August temporarily disrupted traffic, traders said.

CMA CGM Partners with Abu Dhabi Ports to Develop New $154M Terminal

French shipping giant CMA CGM has announced the signing of a 35-year agreement with Abu Dhabi (AD) Ports for the development of a $154 million terminal at Khalifa Port. The project will provide the company with a new regional hub to develop its service offering between Abu Dhabi and South Asia, Western Asia, East Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.
