World energy demand to plateau from 2030, says DNV GL’s Energy Transition Outlook

The world is approaching a watershed moment as energy demand is set to plateau from 2030, driven by greater efficiency with wider application of electricity. A rapid decarbonization of the energy supply is underway with renewables set to make up almost half of the energy mix by 2050, although natural gas will become the biggest single source of energy.

ClassNK updates Guidelines for Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems

Leading classification society ClassNK has released the second version of its Guidelines for Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems. Based on the first version Guidelines released in August 2014, the latest version includes the results of joint research and testing on actual Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems.

Prelude officially enters into Lloyd’s Register class

Shell’s floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility Prelude has officially entered into Lloyd’s Register class. At 488 metres long, 74 metres wide and displacing about 600,000 tonnes of water, Prelude is the largest floating offshore facility in the world.
